Arts Centre Melbourne is Australia's largest and busiest performing arts venue, hosting over 4,400 performances and public events annually.
Located in the heart of Melbourne's cultural precinct, it features multiple venues, including the State Theatre, Hamer Hall, and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Visitors can enjoy a diverse range of performances, from ballet and opera to contemporary music and theatre.
Adjacent to the Arts Centre is the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Australia's oldest and most visited art museum. Established in 1861, the NGV houses a permanent collection of over 75,000 works, spanning various periods and styles, including European, Asian, Oceanic, and American art.
The gallery also hosts significant temporary exhibitions; for instance, in June 2025, the NGV will present an extensive exhibition of over 100 French Impressionist masterpieces from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Together, these institutions form a cornerstone of Melbourne's vibrant arts scene, offering visitors a rich tapestry of visual and performing arts experiences.
